SPN About Us

The Successful Practices Network is a not-for-profit membership organization founded in 2003 through a generous gift by Bill and Bonnie Daggett. The Successful Practices Network is a national professional learning community of like-minded educators designed to share data, experiences, technical assistance, research, and successful practices focused on rigor, relevance and relationships for ALL students. Members can access advice from colleagues in Network schools and from our staff of experienced coaches. Our rich repository of field- tested resources supports the goals of continuous school improvement and increased student achievement.

Staff Members

The Successful Practices Network offers ten comprehensive services to meet our Network members' needs:

  1. Coaching/Team of Experienced Educators - Ongoing technical assistance from your coach throughout the membership year with support from a team of experienced educators.

  2. On-Site School Visit - Based on your school’s goals a Network coach will be assigned to meet with your leadership team to review strengths as well as areas of need and to orient faculty to the Network resources. As a result, an initial plan of action incorporating Network services will be developed with the school leadership team.

  3. Members-Only Searchable Website - Customized access for administrators and teachers to relevant and useful resources, searchable best practices, and member profiles.

  4. Collaborating Online for Rigor and Relevance (CORR) - Collaborating Online for Rigor and Relevance (CORR) are high quality, standards-based graduate-level courses. Each course offers teachers the professional development opportunities they need in an accessible online format that makes learning fun, flexible and collaborative. Teachers can earn graduate credit, PDPs, or CEUs while learning strategies and resources to bring directly into the classroom.

  5. Graduate Credit - Graduate credit hours can be earned for completing each CORR course.

  6. Monthly Network Communication - The pressing needs of schools are addressed by experienced educators from our Network schools and coaches who share strategies and troubleshoot problems. Timely topics are also addressed in the Network Monthly newsletter, monthly technical bulletins, webinars, and podcasts.

  7. Gold Seal Lessons - Teachers are encouraged to submit their lessons to be edited and then published on the Network website. SPN has a growing online repository of more than 1,800 high quality lessons searchable by grade level and content area.

  8. We Survey Suite - The We Surveys are easy-to-use tools that ask students, staff and community members to share their perceptions anonymously about the learning environment, quality of instruction and leadership in a school or district. Survey results are presented in a detailed report that can guide decisions about school improvement.

Feedback from students and staff about their experiences in school can initiate innovative, meaningful school change. When school is an exciting place to be, students are engaged and staff feel empowered to help students reach their goals.

Schools can request additional survey analysis and strategic planning support. Through remote consultations and school based sessions our experienced coaches work directly with schools to guide the process of recognizing trends in data and discuss the school’s area of focus. Following data analysis coaches are also available to help identify how to best improve the learning and teaching environment by developing and implementing an action plan.

  9. Research and Development - With support from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, SPN conducts research to identify the best practices in America’s K-12 schools.
